FSI seeks excellence in its chosen field, the provision of digital seismic data products and services. FSI considers the two most important measures of this to be the accuracy and precision of the datasets it produces and the timeliness of their delivery. Clients must be able to rely on FSI to deliver on both measures. Indeed, it is FSI's aim, whenever possible, to exceed our Clients' expectations.
FSI's approach to meeting these goals is through the implementation of an advanced quality program. The first component of this is the implementation of a Quality Assurance [QA] environment. This involves structuring our working practices and communications, both internally and externally, in order to avoid problems arising. The second component is stringent Quality Control [QC]. This is an explicit recognition that we can never be complacent, the unexpected does happen and we have to be prepared for it. It is about checking and re-checking our work to ensure that error or contamination is identified as soon as possible and promptly corrected or removed.
FSI employs these complementary mechanisms - QA, to structure our working practices and communications, and QC, in the form of process-specific metrics - to ensure that Clients can rely on the delivery of accurate and precise datasets within the agreed deadlines.
Key components include:
• Understanding the time-constraints under which the Client must operate
• Understanding the technical requirements of the project
• Ensure project personnel have relevant experience, expertise and empowerment
• Clear division of responsibilities between FSI managerial, technical and commercial staff
• An open, clear and accurate style in communications with Clients and colleagues
• Optimal use of hardware; innovative and creative application of software
These methodologies have been refined over many years, progressively rolled out across the group. Today, data processing at FSI is conducted under the strictures of FSI's Quality Management System, certified compliant with the requirements of BS EN ISO 9001:2000.
