Acquisition QC and On-Board Processing

Through continuous and detailed real-time monitoring of signal, noise, positioning and timing, FSI can directly address such issues as whether the equipment is functioning correctly, whether the the signal-to-noise ratio in the data is stable and acceptable and whether the ancillary data, principally the navigation, is consitent both with itself and the seismic. In this way, an immediate assesment can be made of the quality of the data. By detecting any problems immediately, infill and re-shoot requirements can be minimized and optimal use made of acquisition windows, thereby minimizing costs.

Moving beyond QC, FSI offers a wide range of on-board processing options. From simple seismic/navigation merge, through increasingly sophisticated forms of OBP to the production of fast-track migrated 3D volumes. With data available for assessment earlier in the exploration cycle, exploration risk is better constrained.

On-board solutions offered by FSI include:
Quality Assurance: Acquisition QC for data verification
Cost minimization: Optimal use of acquisition windows, minimizing re-shoot/infill
Minimize onshore start-up delay: Seismic/navigation merge of on-shore processing
Early data access: Full on-board processing for 2D and and full pre-processing through fast-track migrated volumes for 3D

On-board solutions from FSI are provided globally to the Fugro seismic acquisition fleet, from the industry’s largest state-of-the-art 3D/4D vessels through to simple Site Survey boats. Services are based on FSI’s efficient, robust and highly field-proven software systems, including SeisQC and UNISEIS, running on high-performance computer systems. Satellite links and high-speed networks complete the picture, providing fast and easy transfer of results from the field.
